Description

A festive Black Forest Trifle for Christmas layered with chocolate cake, cherries, pudding, and whipped cream. Sugar-free option included.


Ingredients

Scale

1 box sugar-free chocolate cake mix

Ingredients as per box (eggs, oil, water)

1½ cups heavy cream

½ cup powdered erythritol

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups cherries

1 can sugar-free cherry pie filling

¼ cup cherry juice

2 cups sugar-free vanilla pudding

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 tbsp powdered erythritol

½ cup dark chocolate shavings


Instructions

1. Bake chocolate cake as directed, let cool, cut into cubes.

2. Whip cream with erythritol and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

3. Toss cherries with juice.

4. Whisk cream cheese with pudding and erythritol until smooth.

5. Layer cake cubes, pudding, cherries, whipped cream. Repeat.

6. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and extra cherries.

7. Chill at least 3 hours before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead friendly—best chilled overnight.

Add kirsch for a traditional adult version.

Swap cake for brownies for richer layers.
