Description
Deliciously sweet and savory Chinese chicken wings marinated with honey and soy sauce, served with caramelized pineapple.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional for spice)
- 1 can pineapple slices (in juice or syrup)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the chicken wings: Rinse the wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Make the marinade: In a large bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and chili flakes.
- Marinate: Add the chicken wings to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Prepare the pineapple: If using fresh, cut into bite-sized pieces; if canned, drain and set aside.
- Cook the wings: Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C). Grill for 20-25 minutes or bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Add the pineapple: In the last 5 minutes of cooking, include the pineapple for caramelization.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the wings and pineapple, sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve hot with marinade as a dipping sauce.
Notes
For a spicier kick, increase chili flakes or add sriracha to the marinade. Use low-sodium soy sauce if watching salt intake.
