Description
These crispy air fryer tuna patties combine canned tuna, egg, finely grated cheese, salt, and pepper.
They are golden outside, tender and flaky inside, high in protein, naturally low in carbohydrates, and ready in about 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Open the tuna cans and drain away all the liquid.
- Press the tuna in a sieve or pat it dry with paper towel to remove as much moisture as possible.
- Transfer the tuna to a medium mixing bowl.
- Use a fork to separate the tuna into small flakes.
- Crack the egg over the tuna.
- Add the finely grated cheese.
- Add the salt, black pepper, and any optional seasonings.
- Mix with a fork or spoon until evenly combined and the mixture holds together when pressed.
- Allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes.
- Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions.
- Press each portion firmly between your palms to form a compact round patty approximately 1/2 inch thick.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F or 190°C for approximately 3 minutes.
- Lightly grease the air-fryer basket or add a perforated parchment liner.
- Arrange the patties in a single layer, leaving space between them.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes.
- Carefully flip the patties after approximately 5 minutes.
- Continue cooking until both sides are deeply golden and the centres are hot.
- Allow the patties to rest for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Notes
The reel does not display written quantities, the exact cheese type, or the precise air-fryer settings, so the measurements and cooking time have been estimated from the visible proportions.
Drain the tuna extremely well to prevent the mixture from becoming wet and difficult to shape.
Use finely grated low-moisture cheese so it distributes evenly and helps bind the patties.
Do not add an additional egg unless you also increase the amount of tuna.
Shape the patties firmly and compress the edges so they do not crack.
Do not overcrowd the air-fryer basket.
Wait until the first side has developed a crust before flipping.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
