Description

Hearty and delicious Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches made with tender beef, rich broth, and melted provolone, perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat
  • 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or Italian seasoning)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 68 French rolls or hoagie buns, toasted
  • 68 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the chuck roast and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Add sliced onion and minced garlic to the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Place the seasoned roast on top of the onions and garlic.
  4. In a bowl, mix together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (if using), and dried thyme; pour over the roast.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the roast is tender.
  6. Remove the roast, shred with two forks, and return to the crockpot to soak in the broth.
  7. Toast the French rolls at 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  8. Assemble sandwiches by piling shredded beef onto the bottom of each roll and topping with provolone cheese; place the top half of the roll on each sandwich.
  9. Serve with warm broth for dipping.

Notes

To enhance flavor, consider searing the roast before slow-cooking.
